Boosting access information for your business

Enabled City Ltd is a small, but fast growing, commercial company which provides technology based products for people with learning difficulties and other disabilities. The company used to be a charity (Enabled London), but we changed it a couple of years ago to become a normal commercial company in order to expand and provide the products and services to a much wider audience.

Our two inclusively designed products are PhotoRoute (Visit London gold awarded expertise) and Word-Bank (BBC innovation lab awarded).

1. PhotoRoute

Providing photo-based way finding for those who have difficulty reading linear maps, have a physical disability or visitors from abroad who speak English as a second language. The photos are geo-located and presented in sequence together with arrows and text to support way-finding. These routes can be viewed in website, print, embeddable versions prior to travel or via mobile devices (Tottenham Hotspur FC way-finding app).

An affordable add-on website facility which explains difficult words in pictorial or animated form supported by easy to Word-Bank logoread text. It can be licenced for use on any website and the facility can be switched on and off by the website visitor. Words which have a pictorial description available are highlighted and if the user clicks one of these words, they are presented with a small pop-up window containing the definition.

It encourages meaningful understanding of website information, allowing organisations to exceed current accessibility legislation while improving engagement.
